Built in 1929, Ann’s Sanctuary of the Rose is a private guesthouse retreat located in Cascade, Colorado. The space sits at the base of Pikes Peak in the picturesque Rocky Mountains near Colorado Springs. The guest house resides on nearly an acre of land that it shares with the main house and is nestled in among Ponderosa pines that are home to deer, hummingbirds, fox and the occasional black bear as well as a variety of other wildlife.
When owners Ann and Chuck Benson purchased the property in 2007,
Ann had a dream of building an adobe guesthouse that could provide respite to weary travelers and people in need of healing. The couple went about creating a space that matched Ann’s initial vision and nearly a year later the Sanctuary of the Rose officially opened its doors.
The space is perfect for both for private individual retreats and couples retreats. The Sanctuary is fluid in how it identifies and avoids labeling itself as a specific style of the retreat center. Instead, it caters to persons who are seeking a relaxed space for spiritual and/or physical renewal. It can also be used as an enclave for a writer’s or artist’s retreat, or it can be utilized as a home base for a Rocky Mountain vacation, as it is within minutes of area attractions.
The couple has taken the time to make this space as welcoming as possible to those who chose to stay with them.
It has been beautifully decorated in southwestern decor, with original heavy log rafters and a corner kiva fireplace. The space also includes a full-sized sitting room, a porch that looks out at beautiful mountain views, a queen-sized bed that comes with luxury linens, a full bath with tub and shower, small kitchenette and a variety of other kitchen supplies.
For those who seek to commune with nature, there are a number of nearby hiking trails that are available to guests as well as an outdoor labyrinth for walking meditations.
