While many people will tell you it is too late to book vacations during the holidays, our members know, it is never too late. Whether you are enjoying the benefits of our last minute deals or just being savvy, there are plenty of ways you can enjoy the holidays even if you are just now planning your trip. Coconut Club Vacations invites you to take a look at some of our top tips to help you enjoy the holidays this season.
Don’t be picky – be creative
When choosing your destination, restricting yourself to only the “top destinations” will limit your ability to not only travel but save money. Stop judging your destination by the popularity during the season and be creative. For example, Yellowstone National Park is a top summer destination, but in winter, there are dozens of unique and beautiful sights in addition to fewer people. Embrace “off and shoulder” season travel.
Choose layovers and smaller airports
Often the bigger the airport, the pricier the flight. In addition, flights that are direct will generally cost more as well. While you may be less likely to have your luggage lost by taking connecting flights, as long as you leave plenty of time during the layovers and label your luggage carefully, you shouldn’t have any trouble and will be happy with your savings.
Don’t travel on peak travel days
The busiest travel day of the entire year is the day before Thanksgiving. If at all possible, do not travel on this day. Not only will it be hard to get a plane ticket for this day as we are so close to the holidays, but any ticket you do get will cost a mint. Skip the day before and travel either two days before or on the holidays. While this may seem less than ideal, you will likely be pleased when you realize the savings will again likely receive and the fewer crowds.
A savvy traveler can make the most of any vacation, no matter what time of year they travel. Be smart and make the most of your vacations by being more prepared. Enjoy the holidays!
