No matter how hard they try, big cities will never be able to reproduce the charm of these small U.S. towns. From their tiny churches to their hometown cafes, these cozy spots will leave you wanting for more.
Summerville: South Carolina
This once tiny town has grown from 6,500 residents to 47,000 during the course of the last twenty years but has somehow managed to keep its small-town appeal. One big draw each year is the annual Flowertown Festival. Known as the largest arts and crafts festival in South Carolina, this festival draws in guests from all over the country who come to see the town awash in color. From hot pink azaleas to the purple wisteria the blooms fill every corner of the town. The three-day weekend festival is a fundraiser for the local YWCA and has been a part of the community for nearly 44 years.
Rockport: Maine
Pretty much any one of Maine’s beautiful coastal towns could go on this list, but Rockport has a certain special charm. Not too far outside of the Camden area, Rockport has consistently ranked as one of the prettiest small towns in America by numerous travel publication. The deep blue harbors, tiny churches, and beautiful sunsets make this one tiny spot to put at the top of your list.
Sister Bay: Wisconsin
You might be surprised to find this tiny slice of Swedish paradise in the middle of Door County, Wisconsin. However, this historic town has a lot to offer those seeking a small town escape. From swimming in the waters of Green Bay to hanging out with family and friends on the shoreline, there is plenty to do on the town’s waterfront. The area offers extensive sandy beaches, a gazebo that hosts free concerts and a plethora of unique destination shops and restaurants in the historic downtown district.
Branson: Missouri
For a town with less than 12,000 people, this happening spot is quite lively. This may not be the ideal place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the world since it has come to be known as a tourist destination with its selection of entertainment options, live music, and winery tours. None the less, it is a great place to take a break from your everyday life, kick back and have a fun and interesting experience.
